# Open numbers

> How Business Plan marks numbers it cannot know: needs your value, illustrative or to verify, who clears them, and why a plan stays a draft until you do.

Every number in the model is a **cell**. A cell the template cannot know carries a flag:

- **Needs your value.** Only you know it.
- **Illustrative.** A sample so that the model runs.
- **To verify.** A default, such as a tax rate or a payroll cost, that you or your advisor must confirm.

Only the owner clears a flag. Setting a number by hand confirms it. The forecast shows how many flags are open, and the plan is marked DRAFT while any input is unconfirmed.

You can edit cells in a grid, or by path in whole cents: `streams[pro].priceCents`. Edits are all or nothing, and an undo restores the exact earlier model and refuses when a cell changed since.
